Project Overview

Building on sloping blocks can create a number of different home design challenges and this particular building site was no different. The block had a 3 metre slope downwards from the street and also cornered a right of way on the left hand side.

In our early discussions with the client, they wanted a two or three storey home design on their new block. After some discussion about their family needs plus the additional costs that would be incurred due to the nature of the sloping site, it was agreed that a 2 storey floor plan would meet their needs as well as fit in within their budget constraints.

The right of way that ran from the street and down the left side of the home provided an obvious solution for the location of the new double garage which meant the entire upper floor (technically on street level) could be used for the main living and master bedroom. The kids would be downstairs and have their own large playroom which could extend out to the backyard.
